‘Mudwards’ by Andrew Mottershead

local clay soil, water, 16 hand cut acetate stencils, 2026
The work unfolds as the artist walks through Aberlleiniog Woodlands, stencilling words in mud onto tree bark to mark slow decay. These short messages—from small changes to dramatic shifts—appear gradually to visitors, tracing emotions and natural processes through the forest, then fade away as rain, microbes and time return them to the forest.
