Piano Drowning at Sinema Llangoed

‘Piano Drowning’ is one of three scores from Annea Lockwood’s ‘Piano Transplants’ series, in which pianos are placed in specific locations that would somehow alter their physical states.

‘Piano Drowning’ was permanently installed in the pond at Plas Bodfa in Llangoed in 2021. It has since inspired three full-length new music compositions, performances, visual artwork, countless visits and has been continuously documented.

The third composition from Welsh composer Ynyr Pritchard (supported by Tŷ Cerdd) was performed in and around the piano in September of 2025.

We will be screening the film of this performance, along with shorts from the first two performances in 2021 and 2022. All three films were created by Culture Colony, a Welsh video production company focused on the arts, environment and community.

A cinematic celebration of new music in North Wales. Highlights from three new music compositionsinspired by Piano Drowning by Annea Lockwood, permanently installed in the pond at Plas Bodfa, Llangoed.
