Ellen Davies & Meilyr Tomos

GeoMôn UNESCO Geopark

Commission and Micro-residency

These special commissions embed the selected artists and creatives within their host organisations - inspiring creativity and exchange. Their commissioned work was presented during the 2026 Aberlleiniog Sculpture Trail.

The Start

Ellen and Meilyr are creating an interactive soundscape that turns geology and climate data into music and movement — blending live cello, rocks, traditional notation and immersive audio. They will be tapping into the seismic activity of the Menai Strait and diving deep into the geological record. They began with an interview with Dr Anthony Heeley and have meet with GeoMôn geologists several times to understand the formation and ongoing seismic activity around the Menai Strait.

They are learning & listening, composing & collaging, digging deeper into the landscape.

Work in Progress

They are creating a entirely new composition for the project, to be performed on Lleiniog Beach on Saturday March 28th at 11:30. They are also working on a physical score-turned-art installation which is also part of the project, look out for this work at Llangoed Village Hall.
