Additional Information for attendees
This is an outdoor event, and quite weather dependent. Please keep your eye on your email inbox the day of the event for event updates.
During the evening, we will be using telescopes, binoculars and our naked eye to experience the night sky. We have 4 telescopes that will be set up for everyone to use, along with volunteers to help point out specific constellations and any visible planets. We also have 10 ‘orbital chairs’ that enable a quiet and comfortable way to immerse yourself in the night skyscape. (These are laying back chairs that support your body and neck to be able to look up)
We have a small room at the end of our greenhouse that serves as a shelter. We provide teas and coffees, star story worksheets, books and other astronomy resources.
Please explore ‘Your Visit’ page for detailed description of the site
Free parking available on site
Toilets are available
All ages welcome, under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult
Feel free to bring your own telescopes and astrophotography equipment
Accessibility: The Observatory area, car park, and toilets are all accessible via sloping concrete pathways and ramps.
Red lights - in order to preserve night vision for yourself and other users, red lighting is used on site, please consider bringing red-light head torches such as this
We will be taking photographs for our social media. If this is an issue at all, please inform someone as soon has you arrive.
