Constellation Stories with Gillian Brownson

Our imaginations were ignited by powerful tales, brought to life here at Plas Bodfa through the transformative storytelling of Gillian Brownson! We were so happy to host our first ✨Cysur y Sêr ✨ Constellation Stories session in collaboration with the Wales-wide Adverse Camber Welsh-language storytelling project.

First we met Yr Afanc ac yr Ychan, the Taurus constellation brought to life through a tragic and courageous tale of flooding, monsters, determination, a giant beaver re-homed in Yr Wyddfa and a mourning oxen.

Our second story brought us an internal battle between Gwyn and Gwyrthyr over the beautiful maiden in red, Creiddylad, a bride lost to their world after crossing into Annwn’s abundant realm.

The third was a tale of young Andromeda, who dodged her fate of being sacrificed to the sea monster Cetus by a heroic Perseus, turning the monster into stone - with Medusa’s head of course.

Thank you Gillian for guiding us through myth, memory and our Welsh night skies! We can’t wait to gather again beneath the stars for more stories soon.
