This is one of two special opportunities within the 2026 Aberlleiniog Sculpture Trail.
Open Call for an artwork, installation, sculpture, interactive activity or performance motivated by the by the geology of the Ynys Môn Geopark.
The work could be inspired by present day Anglesey or deep within time.
It could be created with locally sourced materials,
or based on geological imaging.
It could emerge from a notable geological formation.
Or it could be something else entirely!

This is a unique offer to dive into geological archives, meet with GeoMôn geologists at their headquarters at the Watch House in Amlwch or visit the locations of your choice. (the content, aims and schedule of the residency to be determined with the successful applicant)£650 materials funding to support your work
Social media presence and promotional video/photography of the work-in-progress and final display
➜ What to propose?
Please think widely - we are looking for creative ways to engage with our local surroundings. You may propose something as an individual, collaboration or group.
Events - readings, performances, demonstrations, guided walks, workshops, nomadic objects
Objects - sculptures, creations, constructions, inventions, collections
Installations - transformation of a particular space through sound, objects, movement, materials
➜ Locations
Please find a time to walk our wonderful woodlands, around the castle and to the beach. We will meet up for two Woodland Walkthroughs on the 13th of December and 10th of January. See ‘Important Dates’ below.
Possible locations:
Llangoed Village Hall Gardens - willow dome, flag pole
inside Llangoed Village Hall (very limited space)
Aberlleiniog woodlands - streams, springs, boardwalks and bridges near the main paths
around Aberlleiniog Castle (unfortunately the stairs up to the castle will still be closed for our event)
around Lleiniog Beach, on the car-park side of the river
other locations by discussion
During the open hours of the Sculpture Trail, Llangoed Village Hall will be our headquarters : restrooms, storage, meeting place. Any work that you do not wish to leave out on the trail overnight can come into the hall after installation on Friday the 27th of March, and after 5:00 pm on Saturday the 28th of March.

WALK - Saturday, 13th December, 2025 at 10:30 - walk the trail - interested creatives can explore the trail with the organisers - plan your artwork, find the right location, ask questions. Meet at Llangoed Village Hall
WALK - Saturday, 10th January, 2026 at 10:30 - walk the trail - interested creatives can explore the trail with the organisers - plan your artwork, find the right location, ask questions. Meet at Llangoed Village Hall
DEADLINE - Tuesday, 20 January, 2026, midnight - DEADLINE Open Call
RESULTS - Tuesday, 27 January, 2026 - applicants contacted with open call results, clarifications, questions
MICRO-RESIDENCY - February/March - meetings with GeoMôn geologists, research, explorations
DEADLINE - Tuesday, 24 February, 2026 - DEADLINE for all participants: final work information (including description, materials, size, location and timings) risk assessment, installation plan and invoice are due
INSTALLATION - Friday, 27 March, 2026 - installation of works
(the work can be taken down again over-night, but all aspects of installation must be tested and approved on this day)OPEN - Saturday & Sunday, 28 & 29 March, 2026, 11:00 - 17:00 - Public Visiting Hours
PACKUP - All work must be removed by sunset on Monday 30th March, 2026 (approximately 19:45) unless discussed beforehand. Work inside Llangoed Village Hall must be removed promptly at 17:00 on Sunday 29th March, as we are hosting Stars and their Consolations a theater/storytelling performance that evening.
➜ Other Information
We cannot take responsibility for your artworks. If you are uncomfortable leaving your works outside overnight, please make arrangements to remove them and re-install them for the second day, either in Llangoed Village Hall or elsewhere.
We will be creating a bilingual map of the sculpture trail along with small signs placed in situ with information about your work.
We will be producing a documentary video of the Trail as well as still photographs of each work.
This event is part of Anglesey Open Studios, an annual island-wide open studios and galleries event.

greeting guests and answering questions in all three car-park locations
selling teas & coffees / cake
walking the trail, interacting with visitors
setup and clean up
hosting visiting participating artists for the weekend
